An Unforgettable Experience: Exploring Singapore’s Top Attractions in 2023

Introduction

Singapore is a land of many cultures and plenty to see and do. If you only have a short amount of time, I suggest you check out the top attractions in Singapore below! It can be daunting for budget travellers so there are some free activities to check out here too!

Supertree Grove – Nature Spectacle at Its Finest

Supertree Grove is one of Singapore’s top attractions for a good reason. It’s a nature spectacle at its finest, and there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

The towering Supertrees are the main attraction here, and visitors can view a diverse selection of flora from the vantage point of the elevated walkways.

Entry to the Grove is free but if you want to walk between the Supertrees on the OCBC Skyway, tickets cost ~£6.20.

If you want to experience the Supertrees from a height, visit the Supertree Observatory, tickets cost ~£8.70.

At night, the Supertrees come to life with a dazzling light display called “Garden Rhapsody.” The show features vivid colors and changing scenes that are sure to mesmerize visitors of all ages.

Garden Rhapsody Show Times:

Daily at 7:45pm and 8:45pm.

Cloud Forest – A Lush Garden Oasis in the City

When you visit the Cloud Forest, you’ll be transported to a lush garden oasis in the city. Here, you’ll find the world’s second-tallest indoor waterfall, as well as a variety of different plant species from across the globe.

A trip to the Cloud Forest is guaranteed to make you feel refreshed and rejuvenated, you will welcome the cool air after being outside in the hot Singaporean sun!

The Cloud Forest will have different exhibitions displayed at different times of the year. When Brett and I visited they had an Avatar: The Way of Water exhibition going on which was very cool! We even had this virtual experience of making ourselves into an Avatar!

Personally, I think tickets to the Cloud Forest are relatively expensive, we paid £33 each to enter. However, Singapore is renowned for being expensive and this is definitely one of the top attractions here so we splashed out and went anyways!

Tickets for the Cloud Forest are available on GetYourGuide, so be sure to check them out!

Flower Dome – Floral Bliss at the Gardens by the Bay

The Flower Dome is one of Asia’s premier horticultural destinations and showcases exotic plants from different parts of the world. There is something for everyone at the Flower Dome, which is a major drawcard for visitors to Singapore.

You will be in awe when you walk into the Flower Dome, just like the Cloud Forest, the air is fresh and cool and you’ll be surrounded by colourful blooms.

You can easily spend 1-2 hours wandering around the Flower Dome, taking pictures and relaxing at the rest points to take it all in.

Tickets for the Flower Dome also cost £33. I would recommend purchasing a bundle that includes all of the activities that you want to do at a cheaper price. Find your Flower Dome tickets here!

Merlion Park – Take a Picture With Singapore’s Iconic Statue

Singapore’s iconic Merlion statue is a must-see on any trip to the city. Located in the Marina Bay area, it’s only a 10-minute walk from the Esplanade, so you can easily incorporate it into your tour of the city’s top attractions.

The Merlion is an 8.6-meter tall statue that is part lion, part fish, and symbolizes Singapore’s history as an ancient fishing village. From the park, you can take an amazing picture with the Merlion against the backdrop of Singapore’s stunning city skyline – no Instagram filter needed!

On top of taking pictures and admiring this incredible sculpture, there are also plenty of shops and cafés nearby so you can get some refreshments after your photo session. So don’t forget to drop by Merlion Park – it’ll definitely be an unforgettable experience!

Chinatown, Little India, and Arab Street – Cultural Explorations in the Heart of Singapore

Let’s head into the heart of Singapore and explore its famous neighborhoods. Chinatown, Little India and Arab Street are where you can see the country’s best traditional street food, colorful antique stores and majestic temples and mosques. They are also UNESCO-inscribed hawker centers, which means that you’ll be able to experience unique local cuisine too.

Chinatown is a great place to explore during the day or night – start at Pagoda Street for some traditional Chinese medicine shops and trinket stalls. Check out the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple while you are here too! This is one of the top attractions in Singapore. I recommend visiting at night when it’s all lit up!

And if you’re looking for something to do in the evening, make sure to take a stroll down Temple Street for some street food and traditional performances.

Little India is another area that’s worth exploring. With its old-fashioned buildings, Indian spice stalls and Hindu temples, it is a place that embodies India’s culture in Singapore! It’s such a colourful area with loads of street art to see and street food to try!

Finally, end your journey by heading over to Arab Street—the spiritual heart of Kampong Glam – for an exciting exploration of the unique stores, art galleries, chic cafes, and historic mosques. The popular Haji Lane would be the perfect place to stop for some drinks and snacks. Of course, while you are here be sure to check out the Sultan Mosque, too!

Marine Bay Area – Enjoy Views of the Marina Bay Sands Skyline in Singapore

Experience another one of Singapore’s iconic attractions, the Marina Bay Area. Explore the Helix Bridge, a double-helix structure made of steel and aluminium, to admire awe-inspiring views of Marina Bay Sands and Gardens by the Bay. Or head to the SkyPark at Marina Bay Sands, an observation deck with 360-degree sights from 57 storeys above the ground. Be sure to also visit the ArtScience Museum nearby, which boasts over 20 galleries and exhibits dedicated to culture and science.

Marina Bay at night is stunning, marvel at the Spectra Light and Water Show and enjoy the symphony of powerful water jets, colourful beams of light and upbeat music.

Show times: Sunday to Thursday: 8pm and 9.30pm; Friday and Saturday: 8pm, 9.30pm & 11pm.
