Jersey Channel Island
Jersey- WHAT TO EXPECT
My beautiful home island of Jersey is located in the English Channel, a 1 hour ferry journey from France. It is the largest island in the Channel Islands and has so much to offer! My favourite things about Jersey are the stunning beaches, water sports and rich history. You can expect to visit many historical sites, tiny coves and drive through lush countryside. The island is only 45 square miles, so you can easily see the main attractions in a 3-5 day trip!
AVERAGE COSTS IN THIS AREA
Transportation– The cheapest way to get around in Jersey is by using the public buses. You can find bus routes and timetables here. Another good option is to hire a car in Jersey, there are various hire car companies at the airport such as Avis and Europcar. A cheaper option would be to bring your own car across on the ferry with you. There are ferries arriving in Jersey daily from Poole and Portsmouth in England, and also from St Malo in France. You can check out the Condor Ferry Timetables here.
You can also fly to Jersey directly from various locations in the UK, Spain and Germany. Flights can be more expensive than taking the ferry so keep that in mind when you are booking your trip!
Accommodation– The island is an expensive place to visit, but there are ways you can budget during your trip! If you are travelling on a budget, I would recommend staying at the Premier Inn in St Helier or Thalatta Guesthouse. If you have a bigger budget, check out the Beau Rivage self-catering apartments in St Brelade’s Bay, or the Hotel De Normandie in St. Helier. If you are looking for a little bit of luxury, I would recommend the Porthole Suites in St. Aubin, or Longueville Manor in St. Helier.
Food– There are plenty of choices for where to eat in Jersey with a range of cuisines to choose from! My personal favourite restaurants to visit are: El Tico Beach Cantina, Noya Shapla, Salty Dog, and Bass and Lobster. Eating out in Jersey can be expensive, so be sure to check the menus and reviews before you decide on a place to go! Cheaper places to eat are at beach cafes like Colleen’s Cafe at Greve de Lecq and Le Braye Cafe and The Watersplash in St. Ouen’s Bay.
Suggested Daily Budget– Jersey is not a budget travel destination. Expect to pay at least £50 accommodation per night, around £30 for food each day and anywhere between £10-40 per day on transport (depending if you hire a car, use taxis or take buses).
