The Best Sunset Spot in Dubrovnik for Budget Travellers
Srđ Mountain Viewpoint!
Dubrovnik is one of the busiest cities in Croatia, often referred to as the ‘Pearl of the Adriatic’, it certainly lives up to its name.
The ancient city is usually packed with tourists, especially during the summer months.
Srđ Mountain
Srđ Mountain is the perfect place to get away from the crowds and watch the magnificent, vibrant sunset over the mountains.
The peak of the mountain is reachable via cable car or by road. For budget travellers, avoid eating at the pricey mountaintop restaurant and take an Uber both up and down the mountain. For me, the round trip cost a grand total of £11.
If you decide to take an Uber up the mountain, ask your driver to stop at the viewpoint before the peak. This is the perfect spot to get photos of the sunset as you don’t have the cable car or restaurant ruining your view!
We (my boyfriend Brett, and I) decided on the budget option and didn’t visit the restaurant. Instead, we spent nearly an hour at the viewpoint enjoying some delicious Croatian wine and getting totally windswept watching the sun go down.
My advice to you – bring a jacket, even if it’s warm and you don’t think you’ll need one! The wind up there can get chilly, especially once the sun goes down.
We waited just 10 minutes for an Uber back down the mountain.
Some Uber drivers might cancel the trip once they realise where you are. And some say that they don’t like going up and down the mountain as the road is too windy and uneven.
But! We only had one cancellation and then a driver came to pick us up, all within 10 minutes!
Just look at that view! Happy Days!
Watching the vibrant colours light up the terracotta rooftops of Dubrovnik before the light slowly fades away is simply magical.
I hope you get the chance to watch the sun go down from Srđ mountain, it is a marvellous experience and one you’ll never forget! It is definitely the best sunset spot in Dubrovnik!
